Look At Me Look At Me Look At You
Surveillance seems to be one of the great paradoxes of our times. On the one hand we think the idea of people watching us in secret is creepy, big-brotherish and an invasion of privacy. On the other hand we welcome the idea of surveillance cameras in public places because we think they help keep us safe.
In the past decade we have embraced social networking, blogging, reality TV, webcams & YouTube, not only for watching other people get up to with voyeuristic fascination, but happily surrending our privacy to be part of these activities.
Is this all harmless fun, like playing with a child's toy, or is there something more sinister involved in having our lives watched and recorded like this?
